Critical Features of a Wire Bending Machine bending wire bending machine

Wire bending is a process that transforms flat and straight metal wires into complex shapes and parts.bending wire bending machine It is a highly versatile manufacturing technique that can be used across multiple industries including automotive, medical, office furniture, construction and outdoor power products. The main goal of wire bending is to create functional and aesthetic products that can be manufactured at high volume with low production costs. There are many different types of wire bending machines that are used in the forming industry and each machine has its own unique set of characteristics. In order to get the best results from your bending machine, it is important to know its critical features.

One of the most critical components in a modern day CNC wire bending machine is the bending head.bending wire bending machine The bending head is where all the forming takes place and is capable of creating a wide range of forms, radii and angles. The bending head is also capable of cutting and winding the finished product.

Another critical component of a modern day CNC wire bending machine that is often overlooked is the coil feeder.bending wire bending machine The coil feeder is responsible for feeding the raw material into the bending head. A good coil feeder should have a high speed and accuracy. It should also be capable of feeding a large amount of material into the bending head without having to slow down the process.

A programmable CNC wire bending machine can be used to fabricate a variety of 3D geometrically complex structures from any wireframe geometry.bending wire bending machine The fabrication process consists of three steps: first, the desired geometry is converted into fabrication instructions using a geometric algorithm. Second, the shortest bend path that continuously traverses all edges of the desired geometry is determined using graph theory and a nodal coordinate system. Finally, joints are attached at the nodes to construct a stiff structure. Several joining methods can be used, including interference snap-fit joints and solder joints.

During the bending process, undesired wire oscillations can occur. These oscillations can be detrimental to the quality of the final product by causing deformations or wire-machine collisions. Additionally, they can force the bending speed to decrease, thus decreasing the productivity. In addition, they can cause acoustic noise and vibrations in the manufacturing environment. Therefore, techniques to reduce the occurrence of these wire oscillations are crucial for industrial applications.

In this paper, we present two approaches to generate a motion profile able to attenuate wire oscillations in a CNC wire bending machine during the bending process. The first approach, called the filtering approach, consists of filtering the commanded tool angle with an identified model to cancel out the resonant poles. The other approach, called the optimisation approach, is based on the use of a multi-objective genetic algorithm to optimise a control law to minimise a specified performance metric such as bending error or resonant frequency. Both methods are compared and their efficacy to dampen the bending oscillations of wires characterised by different materials is reported.
